Morley's Final Catalogue: Broadly distributed, and somewhat common. Bentley Woods in July (Mly, Hkg); Playford; Fleixstow in 1903 (EMM. 1904, 80), Stowmarket, Tuddenham, Brandon, Lowestoft. Flew to light in Gorleston on 27 August 1930 (Wiltshire).

Recent Suffolk Status: Local, mainly in the Brecks and along the coast.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: The similar Foxglove pug is bigger, flies later in the year and the outer edge of the dark band is kinked.

Habitat: Chalky grasslands, coastal grassland, gardens.

Recorded in 38 (66%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1940.
Last Recorded in 2023.
